About us
The NCL Medicines Optimisation Network (NCL MON) is a network of Committees sharing a common goal to promote the safe, effective and economical use of medicines within the NHS across the North Central London. Two principle cross-sector committees sit within network; NCL Joint Formulary Committee (NCL JFC) and NCL Medicines Optimisation Committee (NCL MOC).
NCL JFC consists of consultants, GPs, pharmacists, other health professionals and patient partners. NCL JFC is responsible for establishing whether new medicines, and existing medicines for new conditions, represent a cost-effective use of NHS resources.
NCL MOC consists of pharmacists from hospital, mental health, Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCG) and community pharmacy and are supported by patient partners. This Committee supports the implementation of recommendations from National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), Regional Medicines Optimisation Committees (RMOCs) and NCL JFC. NCL MOC also proactively identifies ways to improve patient safety, care and experience, and champions the appropriate use of medicines across North Central London. NCL MOC coordinate the development of medicine pathways, guidelines, position statements, shared care guidelines (SCG) and fact sheets (FS) which support the medicines optimisation ambitions in the region.
